I made it back home to the Lowcountry without any trouble. I saw some major accidents on the road though. Traffic was backed up for miles and people were out strolling down the median, walking their dogs, and having a picnic on the grass. It was bizarre! Driving on the interstate is risky business. Big trucks and tail gating really make me tense.
In my current tired state, I don't have anything earth shattering to write about. However, I will post in response to the seven things about myself that Lou over at Subdural Flow II asked me to write. It is for the Versatile Blogger award. Thanks, Lou! I think that I have done this before so hope that this isn't too repetitive. So here goes.
1. I have a highly intuitive sense. It is often spooky. I can tell that some things are going to happen before they do.
2. I would rather be around animals than with most people. I think that I may have been a dog in another life as I seem to relate to them easily.
3. I don't like doing mundane and repetitive things. I am always looking for new adventures and something new to explore. Maybe that's why the career that I chose was such a great one. Going to the bottom of the ocean in a submersible was a real adventure.
4. I have some piercings but no tattoos.
5. I have a tendency to be direct and to the point when talking to others. I wish that other people would get to the point too. I don't bullshit, mindfuck, or play with people. And I don't like people who bullshit, mindfuck or play with me.
6. Some of my physical activities have included long-distance cycling, running, rowing, kick-boxing and riding. Now I mostly row and sail.
7. I am a romantic and believe that there are particular people who come into our life for a reason and are our soul mates.
So that's my list. I won't ask anyone specifically to do this, although I would like to see what Ms. Moon at Bless Our Hearts, Brian at Waystation One and Judy at Jump and Then Build Wings have to say. I know that they have some interesting things to share. If they don't write, go visit them. They have great blogs. Ms. Moon is a no BS writer, Brian is a no BS poet, and Judy is a no BS person in recovery. They fit the idea of a versatile blogger.
Since I am new to your blog, this list was not repetitive, it was all new to me :)
ReplyDeleteI particularly like #5 and #7.
Thanks for sharing.
nice..i agree on those that come into our lives...i so what you are saying on the road...saw some weirdness driving back from cleveland last weekend...
ReplyDeleteHi, I hope you don't mind me asking - Do you still have long hair? Just that I read a very interesting article recently about men with long hair being way more intuitive/spiritual. I wonder . . .
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog, I always leave it till last as its calm and quiet.
Like the directness, that is how I know you as a blogger Syd.
ReplyDelete#5 Right there with you. But I reserve the right to do as I please with my poetry.
ReplyDeleteBugerlugs, I don't have the really long hair that I used to. I keep it trimmed now. I don't know that the hair has a lot to do with intuiting things. I think that it is a super heightened perception about those that I am closest to. Although it can happen with objects I own too. Twice over the last few days, I parked my car in a huge lot, kinda forgot where it was parked exactly, was looking about for it, stopped, turned my head and there is was, right next to me. Weird.
ReplyDeleteSame on the dog issue. I love being around dogs and really relate to them. I feel calm and happy around them. Also, I am a long distance cyclist and was marathon runner until the knee went out. I get intuitive feelings in my life but feel that is more about memory burns in my soul. I'll throw three four more out there: I can detach and move on, but am totally attached and dedicated to my marriage; I used to be antsy at work at switch situations but now am very settled in my situation; I have an ability to throw myself into things all out to reach a goal; I am learning to enjoy the journey and not worry about the destination; I am learning to slow down and be more observant in nature and took great pleasure spotting dolphins, bald eagles etc,
ReplyDelete95 is the WORST for accidents. I hate it. It scares the *rap outta me. Like your list. I, too, have an uncanny intuitive nature and no tattoos. Love your blog. Welcome home.
ReplyDeleteI agree with #7 in love and friendships. People are put into our lives to teach us and test us, or just to love, or all three.
ReplyDeleteNice to get to know you that much more. No BS :) .
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're back on your home turf...safe and sound. I've been lax in commenting lately but you are always the blog that I check in on first!
ReplyDeleteWow, Syd! Thank you for mentioning me. It flatters me and I'm grateful. I will think about the 7 things and pass it on.
ReplyDeleteYo, Syd! That's for the shout-out. What? I'm just supposed to write seven things about me?
ReplyDeleteI'll try.
You're so sweet.
I keep trying to figure out where in Florida you were but can't. I'm glad you're home though. Back where you belong.
I don't remember you ever writing mindfuck in your blog before, so that is something *new* for me.
ReplyDeleteLou, I do curse but mostly don't write it here. LOL. So you get another one thrown in as an extra!
ReplyDeleteSome freeways are like entering gladiator rings...Wasn't Kirk Douglas great in Spartagus?
ReplyDeleteAnyway
Glad you are safe and sound back home.
Love this post with the exception of the mind "f"
ReplyDeleteSyd, I'm back on the Blog-o-sphere after abandoning mine for too long.
ReplyDeleteIt's so good to begin "reconnecting" w/folks whose blogs inform and encourage me. (Like yours.) We, in the recovering world, have so many similarities that it's easy to pick right up after a long long absence.
Glad you made it home ok. What a great list, thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI am the same way. I much rather be around animals than others; the unconditional love, the companionship, and the peace they bring me, is a requirement for my sanity and serenity.
Good luck on the Versatile Blogger award. :)
its always good to learn more about a friend...
