I am relieved to tell you that the surgery was a success. There were four blockages that needed to be treated. Luckily, the surgeon was able to scope the veins from her leg for the most part, so there was a minimal incision made.
This afternoon I stayed with her for several hours. It was hard to watch her struggle with the breathing tube and the pain. But after I got home this evening, there was a phone call. A weak and somewhat croaking voice said, "Hi there. Love you." It was C. calling to tell me that she felt much better now that the "garden hose" was out of her throat. I was so glad to hear from her.
Tonight I am going to chill and hopefully get a full night's sleep. I have not slept well for a couple of nights. Time to exhale and just relax a bit. I know that we are going to be okay.
So glad to hear your wife is doing well. That croaky call must have lifted your spirits. I haven't visited in a while and was shocked to read your latest posts. Wishing your wife a speedy recovery and you some much needed rest.
ReplyDeleteWhat you did was work your program when it's the hardest. It's easy to work it when things are fine. But when the shit hits the fan, that's when the program works the best.
ReplyDeleteGood job, and many healing thoughts from this snowy place.

ReplyDeleteBloody hell I was pondering my situation (ie crying) when I realized later on that there are LOADS of conditions I'd less rather have than something involving "elevated mood"... know what I mean? Almost any physical illness for one thing. I'm really not finding this easy though and NA haven't helped (by not knowing, to be fair) and I couldn't tell them because I didn't have a name to tell them, well I do now. I posted it at mine in case you didn't see it. I hope all continues to go well your end, sounds like the worst is over with...
ReplyDeletephew.. yes nerve wracking. sorry but just caught up today.. glad you can wind down a little after those few days of preoccupation.. and very glad C is making progress after the surgery..
ReplyDeletevery timely reminder how you just don't know really what's next. makes me want to take better care of my health as i've been slack after a period of doing a lot to stay in good shape.
Blesser, Im sure knowing you were there and the kind of person you are in recovery made a huge difference to the way she processed the whole thing.
You must be mentally and emotionally quite worn out, so hope a little rest and recuperation helps you recharge your batteries..The shock of such an unexpected event takes its toll. Australian bush flower remedies are good for that kind of unexpected shock. Same as Bach flower remedies I suppose but I have only used the Australian flower remedies so those are the only ones I know.. Emergency Mist http://www.ausflowers.com.au/shop/scdproducts.asp?catid=4 Sending good wishes to you both..
Great news!
