Happy birthday to me
Today is my birthday. It's not quite as cold as in the photo above, but it is the coldest day of the year thus far.
I'm not planning on ice fishing today. But I will go to the District Al-Anon meeting this morning and then see what the rest of the day holds in store. I used to have a lot of expectations around my birthday. I'm not going to dwell on those today. Instead, I'm going to go with the flow and enjoy what the day has to offer.
I hope that you'll be doing the same.

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Syd!
ReplyDeleteHaving no expectations allows for more flexibility in life.
I think the more we do what you are doing - namely, drop all the expectations and go with the flow - the better things turn out.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll have a glorious birthday - Happy Birthday from me!
Blessings for a wonderful, wonder-filled day, celebrating YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR SYD! I so relate to the expectations thing for the birthday...and only after my 50 b'day celebration..which was awesome btw..did I get it under control. Now I don't get disappointed..but it took me at least 50 years to get to that point. You are doing so much better youngster! Hugs, Lisa

Just take this day moment-by-moment and enjoy it...
I wish I could give you a gift... I feel reading your blog and other recovery blogs on these COLD days... (when I'm hibernating) has been a GIFT to me.
I see myself in so many things you said and other Bloggers said too.

ReplyDeleteah I recognize your Syd 'trait now... my former housemates from university days used to have Syd Barrats probably one and only solo album... I heard he only recently died a few years ago after packing on about 3000 lbs and hanging anonymously round Cambridge as a paranoid schizophrenic (see what LSD can do to you..??!!??)...
Happy belated birthday, just catching up on my comments. Hope you had a great day
