Finally

We are finally out on the boat. After a visit with the cardiac surgeon, C. can now drive and do normal stuff except lift heavy things. I am more than willing to do the heavy lifting. And her dad is home and doing well. Things are peaceful there for the moment.

I cannot tell you how great it felt to get underway and have a dinner of King crab, salad baked sweet potato last night. We watched the sun go down while walking on the beach. Two more sail boats showed up to anchor, and we know the owners. The boat community is close and we all watch out for each other. Just like we do on here in virtual space and in our respective recovery programs.

We watched a movie, Restrepo, last night about troops in Afghanistan. After seeing this we looked at each other and said "What the hell are we doing there?". We shoot the villagers' cow, offer them $5 to give up the Taliban, blow up a hut hanging on the side of a mountain, kill some civilians and then tell the elders that they should believe it when told that things will be different now. Watch this if you haven't seen it and draw your own conclusion.

I slept the best that I have in weeks. There was hardly any wind so the hatches were open and the waves were gently slapping against the hull. I never woke until 7:30. I needed peaceful sleep without tossing and turning.

This morning I fixed breakfast. My love is smiling and feeling giddy. We danced a bit to the stereo hugging each other. Shortly I will row the old Labrador and C. to shore. Life is good today. We have seen through the turmoil of the last few weeks and come out okay. I am really grateful for this day.

  1. I have been struggling for a long time, why are we there? Or in Iraq and what the hell have we done now in Libya.

Too many other things right here in my own little circle to be troubled without stressing over the rest of the world. One thing I have always struggled with rationalizing is this. How do you make friends and role model for the less fortunate when at the same time you are killing their relatives, friends, neighbors countrymen and destroying their property?

  2. Oh, Syd! I am so happy to hear of such happiness and dancing and feeling that for right now, all is well. You and C. have come through the storm and the water is calm again.
    Blessings.

  3. Marvelous to hear you and C have come through the past few weeks and are doing so well again. I know what you mean about a good night's sleep.
I don't know if I would be able to watch Restrepo. My belief that invasions such as Afghanistan and Iraq are inhuman puts me in the place that any "news" about these places is not believable. Conditions there are worse than we really know.

  4. When there is so more chaos personally is is easier to appreciate getting back to a routine. Sounds great.

  8. I'm happy to hear that you're having such a good day. I wish you many more.

I've decided I can't watch Restropo; just reading the news from Afghanistan is bad enough. I think we should get out, and soon. I was skeptical when the US went at all and the longer we're there the more I think it's a bad idea.

  13. War saddens me.
I have seen firsthand Afghani families trying to create a life for themselves while a war is taking place in their living room.

On another note glad to hear C is feeling much better. Human life is precious.

  15. glad C is feeling better and u had a good time on the boat :) sounds like u both needed some down time.
I will have a look at that film, sounds interesting. War HUH what is it good for.. absolutely nothing :) Unless you own shares in Halliburton.. Oh yes they call it 'Military Kinetic Action' now..
Well is Afghanistan legit? I doubt it. I mean Libya is being called an impeachable offense https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BL2zyfxV-7s&feature=player_embedded#at=218 so that tells you something as to the legitimacy of the executive orders for these actions which could just be covert regime change for all we know.. NoAgenda.com podcasts on Sunday and Alan Watt's daily podcasts, and of course Alex Jones infowars mon-fri (all free btw) have very interesting perspectives on the military-industrial complex who start these wars without consulting the electorate. (!) ..By far the most depressing free youtube movie is endgame :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-CrNlilZho but despite it's shocking content, you get over the atrocities after a while. Bertrand Russell eugenics quotes are awful.. There is a very depressing phase and then you bounce back to your regular self. So its not the black hole of despair it looks like at first :) The history of Eugenics in the US starts at about 1hr 16mins in btw.. Makes history fascinating.. imo anyway :)
Right well I really need some mugs of tea and to get on with my attempt at 300 situps per day. If I start early they are more likely to get done u see :)

  21. You are absolutely right in that we bloggers look out for each other and support each other. That being said, reading about such peace and serenity has actually lifted my spirits today and I needed that. (What I mean is: thanks!)

I'm so glad your love is recuperating nicely. I'm even *glad-er* that you still refer to her as your love. One day, I'm gonna have that. God willing.

  23. So happy to hear this Syd. You and C and her father have been in my prayers. So glad the "seas" of life and water are calm now and that life is being just plain good to you....

  24. Glad to hear you and your family are doing well. I heard good reviews for Restrepo - sounds pretty depressing. Sometimes those are good, too, though. I guess we can learn from stuff whether it's happy or not, huh?

  25. You and your wife are ridiculously adorable and sweet. I am happy for you in your sail boat, sleeping soundly until the un-godly hour of 7:30. ;)

  26. oh yes completely forgot..re the restrpo film.. have u heard the kissinger quote on troops? :(

According to Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein (The Final Days, Ch. 14), Rockefeller minion and high level globalist Henry Kissinger referred pointedly to military men as “dumb, stupid animals to be used” as pawns for foreign policy.
