Rainbows and blue skies

The video shown is just before our departure this morning on the boat. There was a beautiful rainbow that stretched across the horizon.  You have to look hard to see it, but it was truly spectacular.  And the tiny speck in the distance on the last few clips are of me in the dinghy rowing back to the boat after taking our dog to shore.

Considering all the hype about Tropical Storm Alberto, the weather wasn't bad. Last night was a bit like being in a maelstrom with the wind and the tide bouncing us about, but we made up for lost sleep after we got back to the marina.  We tied up the boat, had a good breakfast, and fell fast asleep for a couple of hours.

This afternoon, the sky was robin's egg blue, almost like fall.  The weather was still cool enough.  The only sign of a storm were the black rain clouds that were just offshore.

Tonight, I am tired.  My wife is already asleep.  The two dogs are asleep on the floor.  The door to the porch is open to let in the sweet night air that carries the scent of gardenia, magnolia blossoms, roses and confederate jessamine.  Best to take advantage of cool weather while we can.  Too soon the doors will be shut and the air conditioner on.  I much prefer fresh air.

All else is well.  Hope that it is in your world too.

  7. You look to be a fast rower, Syd!
Our air smells the same. I can't remember a May where the air smelled this sweet. And was this cool.

  8. Is that a river you're on...? If so American rivers are exceptionally wide. Here in Britain we have no great rivers by world standards. Everything is dinky and small!
