I, too, sing America

I, too, sing America.

I am the darker brother.
They send me to eat in the kitchen
When company comes,
But I laugh,
And eat well,
And grow strong.

Tomorrow,
I'll be at the table
When company comes.
Nobody'll dare
Say to me,
"Eat in the kitchen,"
Then.

Besides,
They'll see how beautiful I am
And be ashamed--

I, too, am America.

by Langston Hughes

I am grateful for this day.
I am grateful for the hope that it brings.
I am grateful for the idea of unity from Tradition One.
I am grateful for the unity that I see taking place in this country.
I am grateful to be able to sing America today.

  3. I shed a few tears this morning when I realized I would be able to not only watch this historical event...but that it was close captioned and I won't miss a word.

Today is an amazing day to be sober! (Hugs)Indigo
