"Lucky" me
What a good weekend in spite of high 90's and humidity so thick that it could be cut with a knife. I got to spend time with friends, tour the tall ships, relax and read.
Even though I am feeling a bit tired after a busy weekend, I feel happy today. And have no particular things that are weighing on my mind.
I feel extraordinarily "lucky" to be where I am in life. My sponsor should be back in town today. The city that I live near is beautiful. The island that I live on is magnificent. My wife and I still love each other in spite of all that we've been through. I have great friends who care about me. I have a good job where most of the time I do interesting things. I have a great fellowship of people who understand me and don't judge.
Those are all things that came about because of God's plan and not mine. I don't really think that luck had much to do with it. But it's one way to think about how things are today. They could be so much worse than they are.
This afternoon I'm going to have some minor surgery. I'm thankful to be in a city where there is great medical care. And after the surgery, I'm going to go home and take it easy.
I hope that you enjoy your Monday.

I am so glad that your life has led you to where you are today. I agree, I don't think luck had much to do with it. I hope your surgery goes well and that you are able to re-coop and relax this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading this post, I felt lucky too. You made me think about all of the great things in my life and made me want focus on them (rather than on the not-so-great things happening to me). Thanks for sharing your positivity here. I hope your Monday is great!
ReplyDeleteI know--you'll come hme from surgery, take a short nap, and start reading and commenting blogs, and practice your violin...wait a minute. That would be ME!
ReplyDeleteI am happy for you Syd, goodluck today. Thanks for making me reflect on the goodness in my life :o}
ReplyDeleteI am happy for your great circumstances in life. I wish for you nothing but the best.
ReplyDeleteBlessings on your doctors and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Did you ask your doctor if you will ever be able to play the violin? (punchline from a perennial bad joke)
Blessings and aloha...
You're right. Luck didn't have anything to do with the serenity you are feeling today. You were willing to do something different. "If you want something you've never had, you have to do something you've never done."
ReplyDeleteYou made recovery a choice, you are reaping the benefits...and life is good!
Good luck for your surgery today...take it easy.
ReplyDeleteThe joy, peace, and love of your life radiates out from your blogs.
ReplyDeleteI thank you for your many beautiful comments on my blog.
Your minor surgery is in my prayers,
Prayer Girl
Have a great Monday. It is wonderful to be so grateful.
ReplyDeletehope all goes well with the surgery, have a great Monday
ReplyDeletei find that the people who commit to 'constant thought of others' and do their lousy ! best to contribute wherever reasonably possible, have wonderful lives. ..albeit with all the same humanity issues as everyone else. ego-less contribution brings great ! blessings and a lot of 'luck'
ReplyDeletei find things just tend to 'work out'. i am convinced this is because i am being looked after, but i have no way of knowing for sure.
it seems to me as though you try to contribute in all your affairs. very imperfectly. because that's all we CAN do. and it seems things are working out for you too. I've seen it happen so many times now, I don't bother trying to analyze it.
but im glad you have good things in your life. i feel very lucky as well. very challenged too! but very lucky. that's for sure.
see you tomorrow
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your procedure, Syd. I know you will be in good hands.
ReplyDelete(((Syd)))
