S'no more

The snow started about 8 PM and continued to fall until after midnight. This may not seem like a big deal to those of you who see snow every winter or who are now totally sick of it. But for this part of the coast, it is unusual. The last significant snow fall was in 1989.

So we were out in it. We had a snow ball fight, made a snow man, visited with friends and had breakfast at 1:30 AM. It was great fun.

I included some photos: Hair covered with snow softly falling; our greyhound asleep under my shirt after the power went out; and a tree weighted down by the heavy snow and ice.

Tonight is the oyster roast. The snow is rapidly melting. It will be cold but good weather for oysters. A group will be playing music which is always fun. Some of these people are really talented.

Now it's time for a nap. We were up way too late playing in the snow. Hope that you are having a good Saturday.

  1. Sounds like an ideal winter situation to me. In my day to day New England life 'snow' and 'play' don't often go together. We've got cold here and x-high winds -- but no snow. Enjoy....

  3. I love playing with the snow. We've had almost 2 feet with the last and are due for another foot on Tuesday. I am so glad you had a good time with it!

  6. Sounds like a lot of fun. We have dodged the bullet so far...just a light sprinkling of snow, while all around us it's been heavy snow and ice.

  9. snow is nice....isn't it? We've a record breaking winter as far as snow goes...and I like it. It's nice. Remeinds me of a clean white blanket...I don't care what the other grumpies 'round here say!

  10. I'm so glad you had a chance to enjoy some snow. Yes we do get a bit here in NY but I never tire of it. It's great fun isn't it? The deeper the better according to Pickles. An Oyster roast after a night of fun like that, sounds absolutely perfect! (Hugs)Indigo

  12. We never get snow here on the west coast, so I can understand getting up in the middle of the night and playing in the snow. When something is a rare happening, you don't want to miss a minute of it. Looks like you had sooo much fun!

  13. Snow is really a wonderful thing - especially when it is a rarity. Glad you enjoyed it and hope it didn't ruin any of your vegetation.

  14. I have to admit, I wasn't fond of snow in Michigan, it was a very LOOONNNNGGGG COOOLLLLLDDDD Dreary season many years, but here, where palm trees are covered with glittering flakes only a day, it was a welcome gift and I did the same, snowball fight, watching the beautiful flakes fall, snowman building at midnight and cuddling under blankets :)
