Zodiacal changes

Well, I didn't win the chili contest or get a placement.  I did get quite a few votes from my combination of the World's Best Chili from Dave with a $25,000 chili contest winning recipe that I had in a book.  It was a fun time with ten entries and everyone had a good time.  I have to say that one of my favorites was a chili that had a lot of cumin and a dash of cinnamon in it--a middle eastern type.  Delicious!

The good news is that the corn bread I brought was declared spectacular.  It was wolfed down before the second wave went through the food line.  I may have a hit on my hands with that.  So I'll be known for my cornbread instead of the chili.  Okay by me.

But what has stunned me even more than the results of the contest, was the news that I am no longer a Capricorn but a Sagittarius.  How could this be? Here I have been thinking that I had these Capricornian traits:

Practical and prudent
Ambitious and disciplined
Patient and careful
Humorous and reserved
Pessimistic and fatalistic
Miserly and grudging

But instead I now am really:

Optimistic and freedom-loving
Jovial and good-humored
Honest and straightforward
Intellectual and philosophical
Blindly optimistic and careless
Irresponsible and superficial
Tactless and restless

The good news is that 1) I am skeptical about astrology and 2) if all the sign stuff is true, I do have some traits of both.  So my current self is in line with my former self I guess, although it is unlikely that the relationship would be a lasting one!  I am glad that I don't have to worry about any of this since now I am so irresponsible and superficial.  But the freak in bed part should compensate for those few character defects!

I am off to dreamland.  Hope that there are no chili nightmares.  Tomorrow is another day, and I'm not cooking anything.

  1. Astronomers from the Minnesota Planetarium Society have found that the moon's gravitational pull on the Earth changed our planet's position in relation to its axis, making the original alignment of the stars, the basis for the zodiac signs, "off" by about a month. Thus, a thirteenth zodiac sign Ophiuchus was added to the original 12.

What happens to your sign with the added month? One more thing to add to the Alanon program

  3. My daughter just mentioned the zodiac sign thing to me last night. I never liked being under a sign called "Cancer" anyway so it's ok by me. Have you shared your cornbread recipe here? I don't recall seeing it, are you going to?

  4. I'd like to try chili flavour chocolate that sounds pretty cool...

that astrological stuff reminds me of the ads I've seen in the Weekly World News. You know like a before and after testimonial from a "genuinee Lourdes holy water amulet" yours for only $25.99 + $6.00 shipping and handling...

  9. Well the program of recovery did say that we could experience a whole change of attitude and personality as the result of the steps, and God just may be showing you that you have fully changed...and continue to evolve... he changed the zodiac to prove it... LOL!

The middle eastern style sounds very like a chili I used to order at a restaurant up north, in that one they used steak tips and it did have that delicious hot and cinnimon-cumin combo that was hard to beat.

  10. my chili recipe has two important ingredients. Chitpolte peppers for the heat, and then at the end of cooking a dash of brown sugar to even out the heat.

  11. I didn't even bother to look up the "new" sign for me..considering I happen to like my Taurus very much thank you. But, like you I enjoy reading the astrology stuff but am very skeptical as to its practical uses.

Hope that the new year has proven to be a great year for you!

  13. What - what ? ? ? ? Astrological change??!!!!! First I've heard of such - - - I've always been so proud of being in the mid-cusp of Libra (because I am sooo well balanced hee hee) - - - that I may take Shadow's declaration and dig in my heels and stay put. Perhaps another sign could come up entitled, 'chameleon-esque?'

    Fun post, thanks Syd.

  14. It's just so damn hard to try and visualize myself as a different astrological sign. I mean- really! It's like waking up and discovering that no, I am not a girl, I am a boy! Or maybe not.
That cornbread surely did look delicious. It is good to be famous for something so real.

  16. Syd the Mayan and the Hopi both great mathematical cultures always said there was a13th sign and that the earth aligns in it every 600,000 years. We come into full alignment on 12/21/12. There is a movie about it but it kind of got away from the exceptional possibilities of why the Mayan calendar ends on that date.
