Heard in a meeting
"When riding the escalator of life, go ahead and put your baggage down. It's coming with you anyway."
"The three things a statement needs to be before you say it: Is it kind? Is it necessary? Is it truthful?"
"We ask for courage and strength but we don't want the situations that build them."
"There are only two kinds of advice: The kind that you must not give and the kind that no one wants to hear."

Ill have to think about that last statement a little, its early in a morning here on Saturday well just gone 11 and I have crawled out of my pit.
ReplyDeleteI cant remember much of my dreams last night save a bit when this other girl (who I have never seen before) was leaving us at work and a bit about climbing mountains.
Back to work on Monday but I promise to not blog about work too much this summer,
You are a good person Syd
Ahhh, Some AM wisedom from Syd...Thanks.jeNN
ReplyDeleteIt's too early in the morning to incorporate those into my life. I'll have to wait til at least 8am.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if I put four strings on my fingers I can remember those...so true yet so often forgotten....
ReplyDeletenow these are 4 worthwhile statements! happy saturday dear syd!
ReplyDeleteSome very good quotes.
ReplyDeleteSo true all off these. One of the best lines I have ever heard was in a film. " Whats better the lie that brings a smile or the truth that brings a tear" It isn't for me to tell someone where I think they are going wrong.
ReplyDelete"The three things a statement needs to be before you say it: Is it kind? Is it necessary? Is it truthful?"
ReplyDeleteAdd to that, "Am I the one who need to say it?"
My favorite is the first..thanks for the smile-minder!
ReplyDeleteNamaste
It sounds like you are well on your way to having a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid those are the kinds of advice I give only too frequently.
ReplyDeleteEspecially when un-asked, unwanted.
Those are good Syd. I especially like the first one about the baggage coming along form the ride.
ReplyDeleteThat might have been a good Al-anon meeting...
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, my sense of "is it necessary" is all off kilter.
ReplyDelete"We ask for courage and strength but we don't want the situations that build them."
ReplyDeleteI seem to have a bit too much experience with this one....
All of them are wonderfully sage dear friend. (Hugs)Indigo
These are good! Thanks for sharing them with us.
ReplyDelete""We ask for courage and strength but we don't want the situations that build them."
ReplyDeleteUm, yeah, that's me! Allison
Wow, thanks for this thought food. Love it and need it. Keep em coming, I appreciate you Syd. Have a lovely Sunday.
ReplyDeleteLove this post. I can relate to this "When riding the escalator of life, go ahead and put your baggage down. It's coming with you anyway."
ReplyDeleteI wish everyone thought this before opening ones mouth.
Is it Kind? Is it necessaary? Is it truthful? I Missed your postings while away, I have to play Catchup :}
