Funny things

THINGS THAT HALLMARK CARDS DON'T SAY

Looking back over the years that we've been together,

I can't help but wonder...

'What the hell was I thinking?'

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

I've always wanted to have someone to hold, someone to love

After having met you . I've changed my mind.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

I must admit, you brought Religion into my life.

I never believed in Hell until I met you.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Congratulations on your promotion

Before you go...

Would you like to take this knife out of my back?

You'll probably need it again.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Happy Birthday, Uncle Dad!

(Available only in Tennessee , Kentucky & West Virginia )

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

When we were together,

you always said you'd die for me.

Now that we've broken up,

I think it's time you kept your promise.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

I'm so miserable without you,

it's almost like you're here.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

You can tell that I haven't got much that's serious on my mind today. That being said, the last "funny" message above caught my attention though. I more or less lived that sentiment--I'm miserable without my wife but was also miserable when she was around. Thankfully, I only have sporadic moments of misery when I wish that we lived on separate planets.

And believe me there have been many moments when I wondered after all these years, "What the hell was I thinking?". But for better or worse, we're still together. And there's a kind of peace with us now. We're more accepting of each other and appreciate that we're two separate individuals. I like the acceptance of each other that we have now. Thank God for this program.

  1. LOL. You should start your own line of cards with Hallmark. I'm sure they would be a big hit!

  4. OMG, I so can relate to those sentiments...and having lived in WV for six years...the "uncle dad" comment still cracks me up. All kidding aside though I know that my husband and I have had our moments in time, and I know that we both have our issues and we will not ever be perfect, but we today like most strive for acceptance...thank you for the laugh today and the truth.
    Hugs,

  5. Beautiful post...I love the part about your relationship with your wife. Learning that we are two seperate individuals is huge in any long standing relationship. I love the freedom it has granted both myself and my husband.

  6. Great post Syd, It definitely brought a smile to my face today.

    I actualy think I may have given one or two of these cards out to some people. Maybe that's why I've never heard from them ever again. ~AR

  7. Those sayings are funny but most of us can relate to a moment in time when they spoke for us. :(

    Thanks for the smiles!

  8. First of all, thanks for the laugh. As I always like to say, "Laughter is such great medicine."

    Second, the serenity prayer is such a blessing - the ability to accept or change as my higher power helps me know which it needs to be.

  11. I'm sick of my husband, Syd.

    He's great but he's always around.

    I think he and I should just meet up on weekends! ;o)
