Bad head

I have a bad sinus headache today which makes it hard to think and hard to write.  So I'm going to make this brief.  Here are my "randoms" for today:
  • I went to my home group meeting last night. This little group that used to be four regulars has now grown to 13 people.  We meet far out in the country.  It is a beautiful drive. We now have a bathroom and kitchen at the new location so maybe we are attracting people because of that.
  • Our topic last night was on control.  I know that one really well.  It never got me anywhere but to the state of misery.  I feel a great deal of freedom from not having to live someone else's life as well as my own.
  • I took a Sudafed for sinus and hope that this headache will be gone so I can get into work later.  I seem to be more susceptible to changes in weather than I used to be. Plus, it's pollen season here so that may explain why I felt great last night and woke up with a pounding head this AM.
  • I made some calls to work this morning to let them know I was sick and to speak with the IT person.  I  will start dumping files from my computer this week onto the main server.  I am starting to clear out my computer from all these years. It is feeling good to me, like I am divesting myself of a burden.  Maybe I am just liking the idea of being free of a schedule.  More inventory is needed on this.
  • I'm glad that I didn't take the bait on discussions about health care reform yesterday.  Feelings were running amok.  I like the idea that people can express opinions, and that I can choose to listen and not push to win an argument.
  • I'm going back to bed.  Later....

  1. Sorry to hear about your sinus pain, Syd. If it starts to become chronic (like mine!) you might want to check into the Neti Pot, if you haven't already done so. Take good care of yourself! ~C

  7. You said "I feel a great deal of freedom from not having to live someone else's life as well as my own." That is so true. Such freedom.
Sorry to hear of your sinus headache. Isn't it nice when our inner self is happy to be preparing for upcoming change. I used to wonder at why I would suddenly find things I didn't like about a place I lived in when I was at the point of moving to a different place. My way of getting ready. Also, when I knew I would be quitting work and not work any longer it was the unknown I was looking forward to and it made me a little nervous but at the same time it was a relief not to be on any schedule. I am not one to sleep in so I am up early each day, ready to face the day and have no plans most days. But I am busy and productive and the days fly by!

  8. Good job of gratitude in spite of a headache. I loved your comment about choosing to listen and not pushing to win an argument. There's freedom in that.

  11. Sorry to hear you have a sinus headache - those are the worst, your head AND face hurt. I always press on (or sometimes even pound gently) my forehead and sinus areas and it really does help.

I know what you mean about winning an argument. Some topics are no win and politics is one of them. I prefer to stay quiet on that one.

  15. Wish you well, Syd...headaches are no fun--they tell me. Shhhhh! I never have headaches--well, maybe the occasional one, brought on by my frustration with a Peep--grin!

Please may it go away by now.

Your meeting and meeting quarters sound great, and growing in a good direction.

    PEACE!

  18. i like reading about how giving up control gives you more freedom. dealing with my spouse's alcoholism made me more of a control freak than ever before-- and i'm trying to change that. it's hard. hope you feel physically better soon.

  19. Hope you feel better soon Syd.

I believe that as we mature in recovery we learn to listen and respond to one another respectfully without kneejerk emotional reactions or hostility.

  20. Glad you took care of yourself and went back to bed.

Lately for pollen I have been buying local city honey. Every morning I take a teaspoonful with breakfast to ingest the pollens slowly. This method seems to be working as my sniffles and watering eyes have disappeared.
